Mixtape Mixology #13: Singer Songwriters I Like
For last weeks Mixtape Mixology, following a lively and exciting LA (lo)v.(es) SF, I wanted to bring it down a notch and share some of my favorite troubadours. After exploring whatmakes a singer/songwriter, I’ve decided that, much like porn, you know it when you see (hear) it. Nick Drake is definitely a s/s but is Nick Cave? I mean he does have “God is in the House”. Bob Dylan has got to be… right? So, then is Neil Young? Shouldn’t David Bowie be? Or Master P? Well, I’ve decided to just pick the handful that I like and feel are archetypical singer/songwriter-y sounding song. Great lyrics, spare arrangements, evocative voices… story tellers whose songs pair excellent with rumination and Buffalo Old Fashions. Enjoy!
